Why the Name ‘Embers’?
The name Embers was carefully chosen to reflect the heart behind this group. Far from being a symbol of something fading out, embers are the very sparks that can reignite a fire. They glow with warmth, strength, and the potential for more. At this stage of life, we believe people carry deep wisdom, rich stories, and lasting impact — and Embers celebrates all of that.
Why Embers is Needed
Many older adults face isolation, loneliness, or simply a lack of spaces designed specifically for them. Embers provides a welcoming place to gather, connect, and enjoy meaningful company. A warm meal, a hot drink, and a friendly face can make a world of difference. At Flame Community Church, we believe in caring for our community, and Embers is one way we’re doing just that — creating space for encouragement, joy, and friendship.

An Invitation to Belong
Embers is open to anyone aged 60 and over, whether you’re part of the church or not. Our lunch gathering includes a hot lunch, pudding, tea and coffee, and most importantly, great company. It’s a place to relax, share stories, laugh, and feel a real sense of belonging. With our Christian values shaping the atmosphere, we aim to offer more than just a meal — we’re building a community that uplifts and supports one another.
Come Along and Be Part of It
If you or someone you know would benefit from a warm space and a caring group of people, we’d love to welcome you. Embers isn’t just about food — it’s about connection, purpose, and enjoying life together. Whether you come every month or are thinking of trying it for the first time, know that a seat is waiting for you at the table.
